Of Montreal have proven to be one of the most kaleidoscopic bands on their new album ” Aureate Gloom”, Their 13th album can be defined as “A golden despondency”, according to the leader, Kevin Barnes. Indeed, it has a lot of contradictions, created in a retirement trip to New York and demoed in Athens, before finally recording at Sonic Ranch, just across the border from Juarez, Mexico in the Texan desert.
The group completed nearly a song a day during their stay in the desert and even wrote a brand new track on the spot. With Aureate Gloom, of Montreal have created one of the most un inching, confessional and starkly emotional albums in their oeuvre. We will have the chance to share their emotion this edition t the SOS 4.8 Festival this year.
